The Swiss Water Partnership (Co-Chair & Secretariat) was represented at the triennial general assembly of the World Water Council (WWC). The Swiss Water Partnership (SWP) is a member of the WWC since 2015. This general assembly gathered over 250 persons from more than 40 countries.
The major tasks of the general assembly are to elect the board of governors for the next three years and approve the 3-years strategy. Even though both the election process and results were disappointing, the meeting was a great opportunity to further develop contacts and ideas with other national partnerships and international organizations.
The SWP secretariat will closely follow up the preparations of the next World Water Forum in 2018 and inform its members accordingly. The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Global Institute for Water, Environment and Health (GIWEH) – both SWP members – are also members of the WWC. SWP, SDC and GIWEH will continue to advocate for a stronger participation of Southern representatives in the Council.
