The Swiss Bluetec Bridge strives to accelerate sustainable access to water and to reduce situations of water stress for economically poor people in rural areas and small towns in developing and emerging countries (“base of the pyramid – BoP”).

NEW SCOPE: Included are innovative technologies, processes and business models that aim at:

  • purifying water for human consumption or agriculture;
  • providing drinking water (extract, ship, store, etc.) and ensuring more sustainable and equitable delivery of water supply services
  • making water use more efficient (human consumption, irrigation, small industries, other uses, energy generation,…) and
  • preserving water quality (wastewater & sludge treatment at household or community level, other interventions intending to protect/preserve water in the immediate environment or in the related watershed)

NEW BENEFICIARIES: Besides Swiss based start-ups and SMEs, Swiss based social ventures (e.g. association, foundation) that pursue a market-based approach can also apply.

The 6th call for proposal will be published on and via networks on 15 August 2016. Proposals will have to be handed in before 7 October 2016.

From 14h00 onwards, cewas’ water and business experts will offer a hands-on training and coaching to help you target your business to the base of the pyramid, analyse your potential customers and markets and refine your value proposition.This training and coaching session is ideal for SMEs and start-ups focusing on technical water innovations in general and, in particular, for those intending to apply for financial and technical support by funding agencies such as the Swiss Bluetec Bridge, and who therefore wish to expand their proficiency in BoP business development.You can request further support to refine your BoP business model and proposal with individual guidance and backstopping in follow-up coaching sessions to be held in Willisau on 22 September and 6 October 2016.
