GIWEH runs a number of training programs in the field of water resources and environmental management. 1. Hands on Training on Water and Environmental Governance. The program welcomes students of undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate levels in environmental, political, social and/or economic disciplines and provides them with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of water and environmental issues. The participants benefit from multidisciplinary approach adapted by the GIWEH and its international team. They have a full access to the United Nations library, University of Geneva; moreover, GIWEH can facilitate communication with private sector and non-governmental organizations. 2. Ecotourism Program for Geneva, Switzerland. This training program aims at raising awareness on environmental issues and aspects of nature conservation related to tourism. The goal of the program is to familiarize participants with ecotourism during their stay in Geneva. The current program combines travelling and training, which gives its participants an opportunity to get familiar with ecotourism practices used in Geneva – a city that offers a suitable setting for the training program. 3. Environment and Water Governance Training Program. This program serves as a platform for exchanging experience and knowledge on water, environment and health between experts, scientists and researchers from different countries and backgrounds. The program provides a wide vision of new approaches to water resources management based on green economy concept, new green technologies, etc. The program develops a vision that helps to improve socio-economic well-being beyond current levels by moving to an integrated approach, including health and gender aspects, etc. The participants benefit from experiences of other regions and different approaches to understanding constraints in water policy implementation. In addition, the program provides a unique chance to visit some of the Geneva-based international organizations and learn more about their role and programs on water management. 4. Training Program for Officials from the Great Lakes Region (2012) organized by the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR). GIWEH ran a part of the 2nd Module “Natural and Energy Resources in the Great Lakes Region”. 5. Trainings within the frameworks of the Capacity Building for International Relations (CABIR) project (2012-2013) financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. GIWEH ran a part of the program (Yerevan, Armenia, 19-30 November 2012; Tbilisi, Georgia, 26-28 February 2013).
