The SWP Steering Board (SB) meets twice a year to review the Secretariat’s work and give strategic advice. Steering Board retreats (once a year) have also been organized in order to deepen specific topics of strategic importance. The General Assembly (taking place on 29th May 2018) elects the members of the Steering Board for a mandate of 3 years.
The call for candidatures is open to all interested SWP members. Recommendation: According to the SWP Statutes the composition of the Steering Board should be representative of the different stakeholder groups in the member base. The current distribution of the SWP member organisations among the different sectors and the composition of the Steering Board are illustrated hereafter (graphs below).
Due to the under-representation of the private sector in the steering board compared to the member organization distribution the SWP is especially encouraging the private sector to run for election.
Situation: Out of the 12 Steering Board Members, 8 are facing the end of mandate this year (see table below).
Two Steering Board Members out of the 8 have decided to end their mandate officially this year at the General Assembly:
If you are interested in running for one of the 2 vacant Steering Board seats, or if you have any question about it, please contact the SWP Secretariat before April 30, 2018.
The following six Steering Board Members out of the 8 members whose term will finish this year have already expressed their interest for candidacy and would like to run for re-election:
